Properties of Iron
Oxygen transport
Iron is best known for its role in haemoglobin, the red blood cell protein, where it is the central component of haem. Haemoglobin picks up the oxygen in the lungs and carries it to tissue, thus allowing cellular respiration
Oxygen storage
Iron is also present in muscular myoglobin where it helps to store oxygen for use during muscular exercise
Enzymatic catalysis
Various enzymes contain ferrous or ferric ions in their active sites, playing a role in electron transfer reactions and other biochemical reactions
DNA synthesis
Iron is needed for DNA synthesis, making it an essential element in cell division and growth
Iron
Iron is a necessary component in various biological processes due to its ability to move between Fe2+ (ferrous) and Fe3+ (ferric) oxidation states. This redox reactivity allows it to participate in the electron transfer reactions necessary to produce cellular energy, synthesise organic compounds and regulate cellular processes
Iron is characterised by its electronic structure, with an atomic nucleus made up of 26 protons and a variable number of neutrons, as well as an electronic configuration of [Ar] 3d^6 4s^2. This means that it has two electrons in its outer shell (4s orbital) and six electrons in its d subshell (3d orbital). This electronic configuration gives iron its chemical reactivity properties and its ability to form bonds with other atoms

Even if essential, an isolated nutrient cannot complete a physiological process alone. For this reason, we are strengthening all of our formulas with a specific activation complex delivering the biomolecules it needs to function effectively
