Properties of Zinc

Immune support

Zinc is needed to activate various immune cells. It helps increase the cytotoxic activity of Natural Killer cells and is required for the production of naive T lymphocytes, clonal expansion, the differentiation of TH1/TH2 lymphocytes and the effector functions of lymphocytes once activated. Zinc also helps regulate inflammatory cytokines, including IL-1β, IL-2, IL-6 and TNF-α, and interferes with the viral replication cycle. Zinc also interferes with the viral replication cycle

Skin health

The skin is in a constant state of renewal and high levels of zinc-based enzymes and proteins are required to manage this process. Further, as an anti-inflammatory, zinc can help to reduce skin inflammation caused by conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis. In terms of acne, zinc has been associated with a reduction in sebum production, an increase in anti-inflammatory mediators and antibacterial effects on P. acnes

Antioxidant

As a co-factor of certain antioxidant enzymes, such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), zinc helps to neutralise free radicals which can damage cells. In this way, it works to protect cells from damage caused by free radicals, which can help prevent premature ageing of the skin, for example

Cellular metabolism

Zinc is essential to the cellular metabolism. It acts as a co-factor for various enzymes involved in the metabolism of glucides, lipids and proteins. It is needed for DNA synthesis and insulin regulation, for example

Zinc

Zinc plays a major role in the human body. It is a co-factor for a number of enzymes and plays a role in various biological processes, e.g. metabolism regulation, immune system function, wound healing, skin regulation and DNA synthesis

Zinc is an essential chemical element whose structure plays a fundamental role in its biological effect on the body. Due to its specific electronic configuration, with two electrons in its outer subshell, it has the ability to form chemical bonds with other molecules

Even if essential, an isolated nutrient cannot complete a physiological process alone. For this reason, we are strengthening all of our formulas with a specific activation complex delivering the biomolecules it needs to function effectively
